Bloom is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Director of Finance to join our growing team at Poppy & Peonies, a Canadian company dedicated to creating practical and functional products for everyday life.

About the Role:

As Director of Finance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of Poppy & Peonies. You will develop and execute long-term financial strategies aligned with brand goals, build financial models to assess new revenue streams and investment opportunities, and manage liquidity and working capital to support operational needs.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement long-term financial strategies.
• Build financial models for new revenue channels and capital investments.
• Manage liquidity and working capital.
• Oversee accounting operations, tax compliance, and financial audits.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive profitability and ROI.

Qualifications:

• Professional designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CFA).
• Proven experience in a finance leadership role, ideally in eCommerce, retail, fashion, or consumer goods.
• Strong background in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, and performance measurement.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Location: Remote in Canada

Compensation:

• Annual Salary: $120,000-$160,000 CAD
• Performance bonus
• 3 weeks paid vacation + 5 flex days
• $1,500 CAD annual health spending account
• $250 CAD annual period & menstrual budget
• $1,000 CAD annual allowance for Poppy & Peonies products
• $400 CAD home office setup allowance

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
• Professional designation such as CPA, CA, CMA, or CFA is essential.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in a finance leadership role, preferably within eCommerce, retail, fashion, or consumer goods industries.

Skills & Abilities:

• Demonstrated expertise in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, and performance measurement.
• Proven ability to develop and execute long-term financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools.
• Experience managing accounting operations, tax compliance, and financial audits.

Financial Strategy & Planning

• Develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy that supports Poppy & Peonies' long-term growth objectives.
• Construct financial models to analyze new revenue streams and evaluate the financial viability of potential investments.
• Manage cash flow and working capital effectively to ensure sufficient funds for inventory procurement, marketing initiatives, and order fulfillment.

Accounting & Compliance

• Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
• Manage the annual financial audit process and collaborate with external auditors.

Performance & Collaboration

• Analyze financial performance metrics and provide insightful reports to senior management.
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial projections across all departments.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cost optimization and revenue growth.

Bloom will begin by reviewing applications for the Director of Finance position at Poppy & Peonies. Candidates whose qualifications align with the required skills and experience will be invited for a phone interview.

This initial conversation will focus on the candidate's background, experience, and understanding of the role's responsibilities. Successful phone interview candidates will then participate in a virtual interview with the hiring manager and a member of the leadership team.

This in-depth interview will delve deeper into the candidate's skills, experience, and cultural fit within Poppy & Peonies. Finalists may be invited for a final interview, potentially including a case study or presentation, to assess their strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
