Lyric Transliteration Reviewer - Korean to Japanese (Katakana)

Welo Data is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Lyric Transliteration Reviewer to join our growing team. This is a remote, freelance position with an ongoing project duration.

Responsibilities:

• Review and assess machine-transliterated Korean song lyrics for accuracy, fluency, and naturalness in Japanese (Katakana) script.
• Provide quality ratings based on predefined evaluation criteria.
• Identify and correct transliteration errors.
• Maintain consistent and objective judgment throughout the review process.

Qualifications:

• Native-level or near-native proficiency in Korean and Japanese (Katakana) script.
• Strong understanding of linguistic nuances, idiomatic expressions, and cultural context in both languages.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to focus on large volumes of text.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $13/hour pay rate (per task).
• Learning Program Reimbursement: 1 hour of evaluated hourly rate for completing 10 hours in the first week.
• Flexible schedule (average 4 hours per day).
• Start date: ASAP.

Location: Remote (accepted countries: 43 worldwide).

Qualifications

Required:

• Native or near-native fluency in Korean and Japanese (Katakana script). Demonstrated ability to read, write, and understand both languages at a high level.
• Strong understanding of linguistic nuances, idiomatic expressions, and cultural context in both Korean and Japanese. Ability to accurately interpret and transcribe lyrics while considering cultural sensitivities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain focus while reviewing large volumes of text. Accuracy and consistency are crucial for this role.
• Experience with lyric transcription or translation is a plus.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with music terminology and genres.
• Experience working with crowdsourcing platforms or similar environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accuracy Assessment: Review machine-transliterated Korean lyrics, ensuring accurate representation of the original meaning and pronunciation in Japanese Katakana script.
• Quality Evaluation: Apply predefined criteria to assess the fluency, naturalness, and overall quality of the transliteration.
• Error Correction: Identify and correct any transliteration errors, grammatical inconsistencies, or cultural inaccuracies.
• Feedback Provision: Provide clear and concise feedback on the quality of the transliteration, highlighting areas for improvement.
• Data Integrity: Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of the song lyrics and transliteration data.

Application: Interested candidates submit their resume and a brief cover letter highlighting their relevant experience and skills.

Screening: Applications are reviewed based on required qualifications, specifically native-level Korean to Japanese (Katakana) proficiency and understanding of linguistic nuances.

Assessment: Shortlisted candidates complete a paid assessment task transcribing and reviewing a sample set of lyrics. This evaluates their accuracy, fluency, and attention to detail.

Interview: Top performers are invited for a brief video interview to discuss their experience, approach to lyric review, and suitability for the remote freelance role.

Onboarding: Selected candidates receive a comprehensive onboarding program covering Welo Data's platform, evaluation criteria, and project guidelines. They begin working on assigned tasks with ongoing support from the team.
