Senior Product Manager - Education Portfolio

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Product Manager to lead the product strategy and execution for our Education Portfolio. This role is a unique opportunity to combine deep technical product management expertise with a mission-driven focus on improving educational equity.

Location: Remote (U.S.)

Salary Range: $133,000 - $155,000

Core Responsibilities:

  • Own the product roadmap, feature prioritization, and release planning for our Education Portfolio products.
  • Define and maintain comprehensive product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria, initially focusing on backend and data platform deliverables.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure technical architecture decisions align with product vision and user needs.
  • Conduct user research and analysis to understand user needs and pain points, iterating on product features accordingly.
  • Monitor user feedback and product performance, identifying areas for improvement and driving continuous product optimization.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, with a strong focus on technical products.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling data-driven products.
  • Deep understanding of data science concepts and their application in education.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for using technology to create positive social impact.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, with a proven track record of successfully launching and scaling data-driven products.
  • Deep understanding of the education technology landscape and the challenges faced by educational institutions.
  • Experience working with data science teams and translating complex technical concepts into user-friendly products.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather and interpret user feedback to drive product improvements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience with AI/ML applications in education.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Core Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute the product roadmap for the Education Portfolio, encompassing both existing and new Data products. This includes defining the product vision, setting strategic direction, and prioritizing features based on user needs and market opportunities.
  • User-Centric Design: Conduct user research and analysis to deeply understand the needs of educational institutions and their students. Translate these insights into actionable product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Technical Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams and data science professionals to ensure technical feasibility and alignment of product development with user needs. Provide clear and concise product specifications and actively participate in design reviews.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data and analytics to track product performance, identify areas for improvement, and inform product strategy. Monitor key metrics and user feedback to iterate and optimize the product experience.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including educational institutions, partners, and DataKind leadership. Effectively communicate product updates, gather feedback, and manage expectations.

Selection Process
