Job Description

External Sales Consultant (Sr Associate Sales) - Emerging Markets

Protective's Employee Benefits Division (ShelterPoint) is seeking a driven and experienced External Sales Consultant to join our growing team. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong broker relationships in Colorado and Oregon, driving profitable sales growth, and contributing to the overall success of our Employee Benefits Division.

Location: Maryland (Must be able to travel 3+ days per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and nurture relationships with brokers in Colorado and Oregon.
  • Generate new business opportunities and drive profitable sales growth within assigned territories.
  • Manage a high volume of quote activity and effectively manage the sales pipeline.
  • Execute renewal strategies to retain existing business and foster long-term client relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with internal sales teams and underwriting to ensure seamless client acquisition and retention.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in group insurance sales.
  • Established broker relationships in Minnesota (preferred).
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on building rapport.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a high volume of sales activity and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Targeted annual compensation of $70,000.

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in group insurance sales.
  • Established network of broker relationships. While experience in Minnesota is preferred, a strong track record of building and maintaining relationships within the insurance industry is essential.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with brokers and clients.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to navigate complex sales situations and develop tailored solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear and concise communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for efficient document management and data analysis.

This role requires the ability to travel 3+ days per week within Colorado and Oregon.

Sales & Relationship Management

  • Develop and cultivate strong relationships with brokers in Colorado and Oregon, focusing on new business development and expanding existing partnerships.
  • Drive profitable sales growth within assigned territories by effectively presenting and selling Protective's employee benefits solutions.
  • Manage a high volume of sales activity, including generating quotes, conducting presentations, and negotiating contracts.
  • Implement a strategic renewal process to retain existing business and maximize client satisfaction.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate closely with internal sales teams, underwriting, and other departments to ensure seamless client onboarding and ongoing support.
  • Effectively communicate product knowledge, market trends, and client needs to internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in sales meetings and training sessions to enhance product knowledge and sales techniques.
