About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Android Engineer to join our growing team and spearhead the development and support of our Android app for the India market. You will play a crucial role in delivering innovative features that prioritize user experience, stability, and security.

Responsibilities:

• Clone and maintain the existing Android app for the India market, implementing feature updates and enhancements.
• Develop new customer-focused features, ensuring high quality, polish, and adherence to best practices.
• Establish and champion best practices for Android engineering within the team.
• Provide guidance and support on integrating with external partners and APIs.
• Participate in codebase refactoring initiatives to improve abstraction and modularity.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of proven experience as an Android Engineer.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin (3-5+ years), MVVM, coroutines, flows (1-3+ years), and Jetpack Compose (1+ year).
• Expertise in AI-aided development, including context management and prompt creation.
• Familiarity with Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, and experience using CoPilot or similar tools.

• Proven Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as an Android Engineer, demonstrating a strong understanding of Android development principles and best practices.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Mastery of Kotlin (3-5 years+) and experience with modern Android architectures like MVVM, coroutines, and flows (1-3+ years).
  • Solid understanding and practical application of Jetpack Compose (1 year+).
• AI-Driven Development: Expertise in leveraging AI tools for Android development, including context management, prompt creation, and familiarity with models like Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude.

• Code Assistance Tools: Experience utilizing AI-powered code assistance tools such as CoPilot or similar.

• Collaborative Mindset: Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and other engineers.

• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering robust and maintainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Development: Own and drive the development of new features for the Tala Android app, focusing on delivering a seamless and secure user experience.
• Technical Excellence: Champion best practices in Android development, ensuring code quality, maintainability, and scalability.
• Collaboration & Integration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and backend engineers, to integrate new features and functionalities.
• Innovation & AI Integration: Explore and implement cutting-edge AI technologies to enhance the app's capabilities, such as personalized user experiences and automated workflows.
• Code Optimization & Refactoring: Continuously improve the existing codebase through refactoring and optimization efforts, promoting modularity and reusability.
