Job Summary:

Aprio is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Tax Director to lead our Canada National Tax Office (NTO). This individual will be responsible for setting and executing the NTO vision, aligning with national and global tax strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the NTO vision, ensuring alignment with national and global tax strategies.
  • Lead a Canadian tax team across technical areas, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
  • Represent Aprio in tax policy forums and regulatory consultations, advocating for the firm's interests.
  • Develop technical tax positions and policies, providing strategic tax advice and technical support on key client matters.
  • Foster cross-regional knowledge sharing and collaboration within the firm.

Qualifications:

  • CPA, CA designation (or equivalent); Master's in Taxation or LLM (Tax) preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in Canadian tax, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in corporate tax, international tax, and tax policy.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and influence at the executive level.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.

Compensation: $150,000 - $450,000 per year (CAD), with actual salary potentially falling within or outside this range.

Qualifications

Education:

  • CPA, CA designation (or equivalent) is required.
  • Master's in Taxation or LLM (Tax) is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in Canadian tax is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role is required.

  • Demonstrated deep expertise in corporate tax, international tax, and tax policy.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and influence at the executive level.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the National Tax Office (NTO) strategic plan, ensuring alignment with Aprio's national and global tax strategies.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a diverse Canadian tax team across technical areas, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide expert tax advice and technical support on complex client matters, including corporate tax, international tax, and tax policy.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their unique needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent Aprio in tax policy forums and regulatory consultations, shaping the Canadian tax landscape.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Lead national training initiatives and promote cross-regional knowledge sharing to enhance the firm's tax expertise.

Selection Process

Phase 1: Application Review (1 week)

  • Top candidates will participate in multiple in-person interviews with members of the leadership team.
  • Interviews will focus on leadership experience, strategic thinking, and ability to contribute to Aprio's vision.

Phase 5: Reference Checks & Decision (1 week)

  • Finalists will undergo reference checks to verify their qualifications and experience.
  • Aprio will make a final decision and extend an offer to the selected candidate.
