Responsibilities

As a Senior Engineer (Site Reliability Engineering), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our cloud infrastructure and systems. Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing, building, and maintaining highly reliable, scalable, and performant cloud infrastructure and systems.
• Developing and optimizing cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
• Collaborating with development and security teams to embed SRE principles into the software development lifecycle.
• Designing and implementing robust monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
• Participating in incident response and contributing to postmortems to prevent recurrence.
• Identifying and implementing architectural improvements to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Production Operations, or a similar role.
• Strong proficiency with IaC tools, particularly Terraform.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash) and automation platforms.
• Expertise in designing and implementing comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architectures, and containerization technologies.

Compensation

We offer a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, including:

• Estimated base pay range: $152,000-185,000 (NY, CA, WA), $152,000-177,000 (CO)

Qualifications

Required:

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Production Operations, or a related field.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proven expertise in designing, building, and maintaining cloud infrastructure using IaC tools, particularly Terraform.
• Scripting & Automation: Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash) and experience with automation platforms.
• Monitoring & Alerting: Demonstrated ability to design and implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for complex systems.
• Distributed Systems: Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices architectures, and containerization technologies.

Preferred:

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
• Experience with incident management and postmortem analysis.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure the stability, reliability, and performance of Greenlight's production systems.
• Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks to system availability and data integrity.
• Develop and implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure rapid issue detection and resolution.
• Lead incident response efforts, collaborating with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and impact.

Infrastructure Management

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.
• Optimize infrastructure resource utilization and cost efficiency.

Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate with development teams to embed Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles into the software development lifecycle.
• Conduct postmortems to analyze incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventative measures.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in cloud infrastructure and SRE.
