Your Role
As a freelance Financial Copyeditor & Fact Checker, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of our premium content.
Responsibilities:
- Fact-check sources and copy edit content within Google Docs, maintaining a consistent "Foolish" voice.
- Review and format content within our CMS system, ensuring adherence to publishing guidelines and criteria.
- Collaborate with our AI development team to review and refine AI-generated content, upholding high editorial standards.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in copy editing and fact-checking financial content.
- Strong understanding of financial terminology and concepts.
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with CMS systems and Google Docs.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Details:
This is a flexible, remote contract opportunity for 10-20 hours per week. Candidates must reside in the United States.
Fact-Checking & Copy Editing
- Thoroughly fact-check sources and copy edit content within Google Docs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to The Motley Fool's unique voice and style.
- Review and edit premium content within the CMS system, ensuring proper formatting, adherence to publishing guidelines, and overall quality.
- Collaborate with the AI development team to review and refine AI-generated content, contributing to the maintenance of high editorial standards.
Content Management
- Utilize the CMS system to set up content pages, format content, and ensure all necessary criteria are met for publishing.
- Contribute to the timely and efficient publishing of premium content by reviewing and approving content for release.
Selection Process
Interested candidates submit their resume and cover letter outlining their experience in fact-checking and copyediting, particularly within the financial realm. The Motley Fool's team reviews applications, focusing on relevant experience, attention to detail, and understanding of financial terminology. Shortlisted candidates are invited for a virtual interview to assess their editing skills, knowledge of financial markets, and ability to adapt to The Motley Fool's unique voice. A practical test involving fact-checking and copyediting a sample financial article may also be incorporated. Final selections are made based on the candidate's demonstrated abilities, cultural fit, and commitment to The Motley Fool's mission.
