Responsibilities:

• Design compelling and evocative character skins that align with the project's aesthetic.
• Collaborate closely with art leadership and 3D artists to ensure seamless integration of concepts into the game world.
• Explore diverse costume variations, materials, and visual motifs to enrich character design.
• Develop reference boards, mood explorations, and idea sketches to communicate design vision effectively.

Qualifications:

• Proven artistic talent with strong fundamentals in drawing, anatomy, and design.
• Experience in character design for games, film, or other entertainment mediums.
• A robust portfolio showcasing character design expertise, including costume, materials, and shape language.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Compensation:

This is a freelance, contract-based position with an hourly rate ranging from $40 to $90 USD. Final rates will be determined based on project scope, duration, and the artist's experience.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Proven Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional experience in character design for games, film, or animation.
• Technical Proficiency: Mastery of digital drawing tools (e.g., Photoshop, Procreate) and a strong understanding of color theory, composition, and lighting.
• Portfolio Excellence: A compelling online portfolio demonstrating a diverse range of character concepts, including costume design, material exploration, and strong shape language.
• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with art directors, 3D artists, and other team members.

Bonus:

• Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., ZBrush, Maya)
• Familiarity with dark fantasy aesthetics and visual storytelling
• Passion for creating unique and memorable characters

Character Concept Artist - Freelance
