STEM Expert - AI Model Evaluation

HelixRecruit is partnering with a leading AI development company seeking a skilled STEM Expert to contribute to the evaluation of cutting-edge AI models.

Responsibilities:

• Design and refine high-quality reasoning questions in biology, physics, or chemistry to assess AI model capabilities.
• Establish clear evaluation standards and develop comprehensive rubrics for assessing AI-generated responses within STEM contexts.
• Conduct thorough testing of AI models using developed prompts and evaluate outputs against established criteria.
• Collaborate in quality assurance reviews to ensure prompt tasks and rubrics maintain scientific rigor and consistency.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Physics, or Chemistry.
• Strong understanding of undergraduate-level concepts in your chosen field.
• Excellent writing and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in teaching, research, or an applied STEM discipline.

Details:

This is a remote, asynchronous role offering flexibility in scheduling. A commitment of approximately 20 hours per week for a duration of one month is expected.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in Biology, Physics, or Chemistry.
• Demonstrated understanding of undergraduate-level concepts in your chosen field.
• Excellent written communication and critical thinking skills.

• Two or more years of experience in teaching, research, or an applied STEM discipline.
• Familiarity with AI model evaluation methodologies.
• Experience developing educational materials or assessments.

• Prompt Development: Design clear, detailed STEM-based prompts incorporating multiple constraints and scientific instructions.
• Evaluation Standard Definition: Establish high-level expectations for correct responses in STEM contexts and develop a comprehensive rubric for grading.
• Model Testing and Assessment: Execute prompts through AI models and evaluate preliminary outputs against established expectations.
• Quality Assurance: Participate in QA review processes to ensure prompt tasks and rubrics meet scientific rigor, maintaining consistency and reliability for integration into official benchmarks.

HelixRecruit begins the hiring process by reviewing applications for Science Tutors. Candidates with a BS or BA in Biology, Physics, or Chemistry and strong writing and critical thinking skills are shortlisted.

The shortlisted candidates are then invited to complete a written assessment. This assessment tests their understanding of STEM concepts and their ability to design clear and concise prompts.

Successful candidates from the written assessment participate in a virtual interview with the hiring manager. This interview focuses on the candidate's experience, their approach to problem-solving, and their ability to work independently.

Finally, HelixRecruit conducts reference checks to verify the candidate's qualifications and work ethic. The chosen candidate is then offered the position.
