Intern – Business Insights & Analytics

About the Role:
Lilly's Business Insights & Analytics (BI&A) Product Team in Bengaluru is seeking a motivated intern to join our team. This temporary role offers hands-on experience tackling real-world healthcare analytics challenges and contributing to data-driven solutions that support commercial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of analytical approaches aligned with business objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency in data definitions and business logic.
- Participate in product development activities, including data analysis, visualization, and generating actionable insights.
- Assist in preparing documentation and reusable code for deployment.
- Contribute to team meetings and effectively share insights with stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Students or recent graduates in Computer Science, IT, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated interest in analytics, product development, and the healthcare industry.
Technical Skills (Preferred but not required):
- Proficiency in programming tools such as SQL, Python, or R.
- Familiarity with visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Strong desire to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Analytical thinking and a passion for problem-solving.
Qualifications
Education:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related field.
Experience:
- 0-2 years of relevant experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL is required.
- Familiarity with Python or R is a plus.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI is desirable.
Other Requirements:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated interest in the healthcare industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis & Insights: Support the collection, cleaning, and analysis of transportation data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Process Optimization: Assist in developing and implementing strategies to optimize transportation routes, schedules, and resource allocation.
- Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to transportation efficiency, cost, and safety. Generate reports and dashboards to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with internal teams (e.g., logistics, operations, procurement) and external partners to ensure smooth transportation operations.
- Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot transportation-related issues, proposing solutions to enhance efficiency and minimize disruptions.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in transportation management. Contribute to the development of innovative solutions to improve processes.
Selection Process

Application Review: Qualified candidates will be shortlisted based on their resume and cover letter, focusing on academic background, relevant projects, and demonstrated interest in analytics and healthcare.
Online Assessment: Shortlisted candidates will complete an online assessment testing their analytical and problem-solving skills, along with technical proficiency in SQL or Python (if applicable).
Virtual Interview: Top performers will participate in a virtual interview with the BI&A team. This interview will assess their communication skills, teamwork abilities, and understanding of the role's responsibilities.
Final Interview: Selected candidates will be invited for a final interview, potentially involving a case study or presentation, to further evaluate their analytical capabilities and fit within Lilly's culture.
